FAQS

You Ask - I Answer

HOW LONG IS A THERAPY SESSION AND HOW OFTEN WILL I MEET WITH A THERAPIST? WHEN DOES THERAPY END?

Therapy sessions typically last 53 minutes. We can discuss what is best for your therapeutic need for how often you need to be seen, but ultimately you choose how often you want/need to be seen. Typically people meet with their therapist one time a week at the beginning to establish the relationship and begin therapy and scale down to every other week or monthly for maintenance appointments when ready for that. Termination of the therapeutic relationship is usually determined through communication between therapist and client. Therapy can be brief and solution focused (6-12 sessions) and can also last for years for some, dependent on the need.

WHAT HEALTH INSURANCE DO YOU TAKE?

I accept Highmark and many of the Blue plans under Highmark, Aetna, Cigna, United Behavioral Health, UPMC, Optum, Self pay and on occasion someone chooses to use their out of network benefits and provided with a superbill if needed.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY INSURANCE COVERS THERAPY?

Call your member services number on your insurance card. Ask if you have behavioral health benefits and if Amy Leveto is considered an in network provider. Ask about how much your deductible and copay will be. If I am not considered a provider, ask if you have out of network benefits you can use and what the coverage looks like for those benefits. If I do not accept your insurance, I would be happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork so that you may file for reimbursement. You should contact your insurance company directly prior to seeing me, to determine your coverage benefits for out-of-network behavioral health providers. Your insurance carrier will be able to inform you about whether or not your sessions will be covered, what percentage will be covered, and their procedures for reimbursement.

WHAT IS A GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE?

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.  You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.  You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.  If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.  Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.  For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

If you are experiencing a life threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately. If you are not in immediate danger but you would like to speak to someone you can reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255, Resolve Crisis network at (888) 796-8226 or the Mental Health crisis text line by texting HOME to 741741.
